Biography
Avani Ashtekar is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology and was a Summer Fellow, 2025 at the Saxena Center for Contemporary South Asia. As a political anthropologist her research is interested in border policy, governance and transformation of land at the India-Bangladesh border. More specifically, she approaches the India-Bangladesh border as socio-political space co-constituted by violence and co-operation.
