Abstract:

Rwanda faces significant challenges in addressing the burden of disease and injury exacerbated by limitations in emergency care services. The WHO Basic Emergency Care course was developed in 2018 to address these gaps in care by providing sustainable training for emergency healthcare providers in resource-limited settings. Despite the demonstrated benefits of these training programs, including improved knowledge retention and patient outcomes in residency programs, there is limited literature regarding the effectiveness of supplementary training programs for clinical processes. We aim to evaluate the implementation of clinical process indicators such as airway support in cases of obstruction or respiratory distress, intravenous fluids in cases of hypovolemia or shock, and glucose administration for hypoglycemic patients.
